Background and Need:
In 2011, the Spokane River Forum founded the Spokane River Water Trail. Since 2011, the Forum, in close cooperation with several key partners has developed or restored 19 river access points from State Line to Nine Mile Dam.
The Water Trail provides safe, public access to the river while preserving shoreline and riparian values.
The Water Trail has become a much loved and iconic recreational resource for residents and visitors alike. However, with increased river access and use, comes a need to provide sustainable funding and action to meet three critical water trail needs: Maintenance, Cleanup, and Safety.
